session 2
Subversive Advertising
Unethical  company's

We had research some subversive advertisement's we looked at some for reference and found

Absolute End (Absolute Vodka)

Obesity King(Burger King)
We then had to go on and find our own Unethical company's We looked and there where loads like Apple and Nestle.
We then had to make our own subversive advertisement, I choose Nestle and how they wanted to control the worlds water supply.
This Idea for the Nestle subversive advertisment
This one is the photo shopped version

This Is a link to a sit where I got some information off of about the attempt to control the worlds water supply, I also knew this from my own knowledge.

Session 1

Today we went on to DAFONT  to look at different styles of Font we looked at them and typed in the Name of our product so we could see what it looked like in that font and if it looked good in that style.

I  think that the fonts i have chosen suit the Freak or Unique categories.

From the top

  1. The first one reminds me of what a heavy metal band would use for there Name.
  2. The second one reminds of the walking dead font so it's like it has other words in it  almost newspaper like as well
  3. Another font I feel a heavy metal band would use.
  4. It looks like blood dripping so it looks Like it's been attacked and bleeding or that it has killed something.
  5. Looks like something has spray painted on a wall in a creepy alley.
  6. I think it looks like you would find it in the Zombie apocalypses, probably associate it with the warnings people have left or signs for restricted military areas

In the second session we went on to design what the label looked like I came up with two designs
I decided that i would use the second font from the previous session as the font for my label.

The first design is a bit plane but i like how the colors go together, I took the ingredients from a Coke cola bottle I found on the internet.
The extreme is green because i associate energy with green, I also added the slogan that i made up for the drink

The second label is almost identical but I decided to add to monsters on so it goes with the slogan escape the monster.

session 2
we had to do  a brainstorm for a product for our filmography advert. we thought about making our product many things like,
Energy drinks/ Bars
Protein drinks
sweets
clothing
road safety
shoes
or glasses

we thought about doing an advert for glasses or shoes we where stuck between so we brainstormed both Ideas for products and how we would develop them.

The glasses, we thought of making them Virtual Reality glasses but decided that it would heavily rely on effects which we haven't done that much with so we decided that we should stick to what we knew.

The shoes, we decided to focus on the shoes because they would be simple to follow, we wanted to focus on the feet using the steady shot (which is where the camera is upside down on a tripod and is following the person about, you then flip it for the finished product.) The idea was to follow the feet and then go behind them to see something follow them, it would then go to follow the feet of the person again running trying to get away. we came up with the slogan escape the monsters.
The advert is meant to show the shoes are comfy to wear and help you run faster (so you can escape the monster.

In today session we where split into different groups with three people in each. I was in Group six which had Ben and Syed. We had to get to know each other so we learnt what key skills we each had

Ben: Is confident, good at acting (took drama),good at making music, he doesn't mind being in front of the camera, likes fashion and good with Photoshop.

Syed: Good at locating things, finding good scenes, has a bit of confidence, and took art.

Advert might incorporate:spiders, clown, death.

The first advert we chose was the Halloween advert for snickers, I found this advert creepy because they associated the exorcist in it with the head spinning round.

second advert was the reaction to the game until dawn. this looked creepy because of the lighting and the atmosphere of being in a dark room where they can only see the screen.

(in the top 10)

Third advert I found this creepy because a)he is eating himself and b)his eyes are freaky because off how much they stand out.
time 1:37 -2:36

Spider Audi car advert I chose this because it freaked me out because of my fear of spiders, the lighting was also dark and they used shadows a lot in it and the music creepy.

time 4:58-6:01

Baby doll PlayStation
This was freaky because of the doll it was creepy because of it's eyes and how it played some of the games in it, it's mouth moved and just how it moved and reacted.

time 6:03-6:40

Car k-fee. this is creepy because it catches you of guard it seems like another normal car advert but then jumps you with a scare.
time 6:41-7;03

Judder man
This was freaky because of the different styles the used like the puppet style to the realistic, and how they used stop motion for stuff in the background, and just how they made everything move differently and uniquely, They way they move is like the way shouldn't it's abnormal.

Photography.

we learnt what exposure was Underexposure is where it is to dark, and overexposure where it is to bright.

We also learnt some history behind photography, like how photograph originated from the words light(photo) and drawing(graph) quite literately means drawing with light. The first time the idea was conceived was in 1052, the first permanent picture was 1816, and the first digital camera- Sony Mavica which saved images to a disc and you had to connect it to the TV to watch the content (1981).

We had a starter where we had to identify new and old pictures. The old pictures we had to Identify where
Picture 1 plane  that dropped the first ever atomic bomb, The Enola Gay,
Picture 2 was a picture of the Boxers Mohammad Ali and George Foreman.
Picture 3 The Loch Ness monster,
Picture 4 Khmer Rouges(French for red Khmer).
Picture 5 9/11 twin towers,
Picture 6 Vietnam war.
The new pictures where,
Picture 1 The son of a smuggler who was bringing refugees  from Syria to Turkey
Picture 2 Cecil the lion
Picture 3 Cross section of the brain, Alzheimer disease.
Picture 4 Strictly come dancing 2015

Then we where given the cameras and where set the task to replicate pictures that where in the Left Loin and the NCN prospectus we split of in 4 groups of 5.

We then all came back and tried to find out which picture was which in the booklets.

After that we came back and drew what the camera looked like and label it we also learnt what some of the setting where on the dial.

Photography
In today's lesson we did a quick recap on what we did last time by doing a little quiz asking us what photography is was in Greek, Name 4 Genres, and what we might need for photography

We then learnt rules of composition
Rules of  thirds
Balance elements
Leading lines (draws the eye in)
Symmetry  balance
Viewpoint
background (out of focus and deep)
 Depth
Framing techniques
Aperture,
Cropping
We then took photos of photos that had these rules applied.
The first photo is a Background Shot
The second shot is the rule of thirds
                                              The third shot a viewpoint
                                             The fourth picture is cropped
                                           This one is framed
                                                           This shot is Symmetry
                                           This shot is shadow.

23/09/2015 Session 2

Photoshop

This session we learnt how to make a banner. What we had to do was make a rectangle and add a anchor on to the left and right side of the rectangle. After that we had to make a square on another layer, with this square we had to use the direct selection tool which if used on a square the selected corner will go black and you can delete it taking half of it away leaving it a triangle. we also used the Gradient tool to adjust the shading of the triangle. we did this twice to make both points of the banner. After that we used the text box to type a word. we then linked all the layers together so the banner couldn't be separated. we then filled in the background with a color and the used the gradient to adjust that as well.  After that we added a image on and made it suit the title of the Banner "Freaky".

Photoshop

In the lesson we had to make ghostly images and make them look creepy. We selected people and Creepy backgrounds. We used all sorts of tools like the Free pen tool again which allows us to draw around the image selected, and the Desaturate function which turns the image black and white, WE also used Gaussian Blur to make the image blurry and we had to find the perfect blur for the image we used so we could still make out we did, and last we changed the Opacity and made it transparent and more ghostly. We used the Blur Desaturate and the Opacity on the people we used and turned them ghostly.

I found Using Photoshop okay, It was a bit confusing at first but when I knew what I was doing it became easier to use then before. It was a bit tedious at first because it kept on messing up and wouldn't allow me to select the image that i wanted but we resolved that and fixed it up so it would work again, another thing that happened was that a bit of one of my images got cut off and i couldn't get it back but i just used it to my advantage and made it look like it was meant to be there.

I feel a bit more confident in using Photoshop but I know i still need to improve more.

The first image is a picture of a creepy woods and the killer in the Game Until Dawn mask floating in the air.

The Second Image is a creepy hallway with the Monster From Amnesia.

The Third image is a creepy hospital with the creepy zombie/ monster nurse from Silent Hill

Music advertising

We started the day with a task of listening to songs and guessing what they would suit.

  • Cyndi Lauper-Girls Just wanna have fun- Makeup,Perfumes,Shoes (women)
  • Woman-Wolf Mother- Men over 20 car drivers.
  • M.I.A-Bad Girls-(younger/teens) Fashion,Trainers, Street wear, Cologne.
Learning what different sounds in adverting.

Car Advert
The Force Volkswagen
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R55e-uHQna0

This advert is for the Volkswagen (2014)
The advert is the star wars music the Force so when it's going through the advert the kid is trying to use the force to do stuff. The music fits the advert because at the end it shows the car locking/unlocking without the key holder being in the immediate proximity. there is the house when they lock/ Unlock the convincing the kid who is trying to do something to the car that he has managed to do it.
Pretty much saying you can lock/Unlock the car from anywhere as long as you can see it and point the key at it.

Makeup Advert.
L'Oreal.

The music to this is almost like techno music.so it suits the movement of the people in the advertisement and then the words said suit what it is advertising. The music is more new so it will catch people by the well known tunes.

Sofa Advert

James' DFS Sofa Internet Advert

The music is quite upbeat and catches your attention along with the fact of whats going of in the video with kids jumping about and being all energetic. It makes you want to buy it because the music is also catchy and some people might remember it as song they used to listen to or heard in a film/cartoon (*cough cough Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius).

Session 1

On Wednesday  I was learning how to use Photoshop It was  difficult to start with because the computer wouldn't log on but when it did we managed to get onto Photoshop and use it for a bit. I was a bit behind because of the computer not working but caught up quite easily.

I was not use to Photoshop because i haven't used it in a while but when it was all explained I gradually figured it out.

We used the free transform option which allows you to make the picture bigger or smaller. We also learnt the shortcut Ctrl+T, we also used the clone stamp tool to take parts of pictures and put them somewhere else on the same picture or on another picture. We also used the move tool which moved the picture.

Using the clone stamp tool I made a three eyed cat with the eye in the center, I then made a man have two lips, and then combined a man with some cat eyes instead of his own eyes

Session 2
We started to use over features of Photoshop in the second session. We learnt how to use the Marquee tool which cuts out selected parts of images. When the area is selected you can press back space to delete the selected area. You can go to History (located in the windows tab) to go back or Ctrl+Z . If you right click the Marquee tool you will be given some options, one of the options is to get a oval shape (Elliptical tool) , If you hold shift using the elliptical tool you will be able to get a perfect circle. If you press backspace it will delete what is in the circle, but if you select inverse it will delete everything outside the circle. We also learnt how to fill sections in with paint. The last thing we learnt to use was the pen tool which helps cut around the selected area of the picture more accurately. We also used the lasso tool which is similar.

Today we learnt how to use the Video cameras, learnt some of the shots there are, learned about the rule of thirds, and how to set up a tripod.

First thing we did was fetch the cameras and tripod and take them back to class. we then did a starter of looking for three male and three female directors. For the male directors we found Wes craven who directed Scream, Steven Spielberg who directed Jurassic Park, and James Cameron who directed Terminator.
For the Female Directors we found Julie Anne Robinson-who directed The Last Song, Nancy Meyers who directed the Holiday, and Amy Heckerling who directed clueless.

After we did the activity we watched a short film called Soft By Simon Ellis.

After that we had a look at what some of the shots would look like, we looked at extreme wide shots e.g pictures of buildings, Mid shots- waist upwards, close up- someones face, Extreme close up- someones eyes/ mouth.

We learnt how to use the cameras and how to white balance them, zoom, and how to set the headphone and microphone up to the camera. We then went out and attempted to take the shots that I mentioned before. When we came back from the activity we learnt how to open the tripod, how to set the tripod up to the camera and how to collapse the tripod.
