Film evaluation
For film we had to male a freak or unique advert.

The props we had to use where a Lipton Ice Tea bottle and our label for our product we created for our advert that we made in graphics lesson's to put on the bottle.

The Equipment we used was a camera to record all the scenes for our advert, a tripod to support the camera so it wouldn't be shake as it would i we recorded by hand it also helps with creating different shots for example the jib shot. we used a microphone to pick up sound like footsteps going down the staircase in the recording, and we used headphones so we could hear the sound that the microphone picks when recording.

We used 4 different locations the first one being one of the stair case going to the refectory, the second one being the B floor lift room, the third the corridor of the B floor, and then the fourth being the arched room on the B floor. We used the staircase as a scene leading to the Lift room so it looked like a normal student heading to get the lift to another floor. The way we filmed this scene was with me under the stair case using a tilt shot, after that we then filmed the "student" walking to the lift and pushing the button we used this room to also reveal the "monster leaving the lift (for this scene we used a Jib shot and tilt shot) and the student opening the drink (close up), The corridor we used for the chase scene where we had the camera following behind the "monster" who is chasing the"student", and the arched room was used for when the "student" takes a sip of his drink (product) and the "monster" vanishes.

Filming considerations: the time of day didn't effect us much because we where a) doing it in lesson, b) the area we where in was shaded a bit so it wasn't to bright(which we needed), we needed to consider what time the lift was going to busy and the time when hardly anyone used it because we needed it to be empty to create the effect we wanted and so you would focus more on the "monster" then what could be going of in the background if other people where in the lift as well.

The editing techniques we used where the Black and white filter to make the advert look dark, we used the dip to transition some scenes and to introduce the logo at the end, we also repeated using the running scene multiple times to make it look like he was running more then he did, and then we used cut to it all the scenes together.

The obstacles we faced where when we used the lift it took a few attempts to film that scene because people getting into the lift and coming to the B floor so we had to wait quite a bit to film that scene, and another obstacle we faced was editing because non of use had experience with film editing so it took a bit of time to fully understand what to do.

Photography Evaluation.
My assignment was to make a creepy advert for my Freak or Unique project We are doing in Photography.  the images that inspired me where some of the pictures that I had to find in week 2 during research, I looked at surrealist pictures to see how weird they where and then pictures of a foot in the shape of a high heel, I also looked at freaky children toys and defective toys to see how I could make mine look creepy. The High heel that I looked at during research for my project had unique characteristics because it was a foot in the shape of a high heel, I also looked a picture of a man with his hands on his face but his facial features where on his hands which was strange. there was also a picture of a mouth open but instead of seeing the inside of the mouth there was a path /alley leading somewhere else.

My original Idea was to design a creepy advert for face painting so I could make it look scary I was going to use a mannequin head, face paint and wax to make things stand out. I wasn't able to get my hands on everything on time so I had to change my Idea to what I did for my end product which was A creepy version of build a bear called create a toy where I used A already creepy teddy bear and a high heel but on to the bottom of it.

What I took into account. I didn't need a location or a model, I just needed props and equipment and time. Time was easy I just had to do it class when we had the cameras out. Props where the 6 objects to take of photos to be brought in and the equipment I need to use would be a red head lamp Tripod camera display board and A3 paper to use as a background.

For the final shots I edited them so the lighting was better and that there wasn't as much background showing, I did this by changing the Levels and Curves so the it looked brighter and cleaner. We also cropped it.  with some of the \shots I couldn't adjust them much because some of the items would stand out enough and would just blend in with the background.
Four Edited shots

With all for of these edited photos I adjusted the curves and levels so they looked cleaner I also cropped them all so that not as much background was showing.

Final Product

What would I do differently
I would try to make it look a bit smother so It wasn't as rough around the edges and looked a bit cleaner. I also learn't that I need to get items far in advance so I have them to edit and not have to improvise last minute and change the idea all together.

In my opinion It fits the assignment brief but it doesn't fit the original proposal because I wasn't able to get my hands on the necessary items on time so I had to change the idea to the current one.

Poster Advert proposal

Proposal

The Props
My Idea is to create an advertisement poster for a creepy Face painting company. The props I am going to need are a Mannequin head, face paint, and wax to mould and make bits stand out from the face. In the end it would look like a creepy monster face that would look really cool and freaky.

The equipment
·         We will need a red head light and its light stand so we can light the items up so they won’t have as much of a shadow in the way of the item.
·         A camera to take the pictures with.
·         A tripod to support the camera so it won’t blur from our hands shaking.
·         A3 paper so we could use it to have even light layout because it reduces shadows along with the red head light.
·         Art work screens so we could pin the paper to the board and have it propped up.
·         A table so we could stand the objects on.

Location
The location will be the classroom because I only need to take pictures of stationary objects and then cut around them and adjust them to suit what I would like the final project to look like. I will use the art display board and paper as the backdrop for the items.

Photographic Considerations
There aren’t many that I have to consider like the Weather, traffic or model availability, because I am using stationary objects and will be indoors, all I will need to worry about is the lighting which can be sorted by using the red head lamps, and If people want to get past me to the get through the room.

Editing techniques
The editing techniques I will use are the free form pen so I can cut around the objects and get rid of any unnecessary things that could be in the way. I could also use the desaturate tool to make it black and white adding to the creepiness as well as the opacity tool to make the image look more ghostly.

Obstacles I might face.
I’m quite new to Photoshop so I don’t know how to use all the tools and settings so I will need to play about with it for a bit so I can figure out what tools to use. I also will struggle using the free form pen because you need to be precise so you can get the best look out of the image that will be cut out to be used for the advert.

Time frame
This project should take three days. On the first day I will be using the time to take pictures of the objects that I will bring in. On the second day I will be planning what I will do on Photoshop and how the images will be set out and start on the Photoshop for the project, and on the third day I will finish the Photoshop and do the Evaluation of the image.

Film

Today we expanded on using the cameras and used the tripods with them. We used the tripods to do panning (Left -Right or Right - Left) following a person, Tilt (Toes-Head or Head-Toes) and Moving painting shot where the camera stays still and the person moves about on the camera.

We also learnt what a Jib shot (where you lean the tripod with the camera set up and move it forward) and Steady shot where you flip the tripod and follow a persons feet and when done flip the footage so you look like your following the persons feet.

We also looked at the interface of Adobe Premiere and see what the setup looks like.

We went around and filmed the Panning,Tilt and moving painting shot

Today we had to sign a health and safety form so we could go and do our filming.
After signing the form we went of and filmed. We used our shot list to help us out so we could direct each other on what to do. We didn't stick exactly to the plan because we started to run short on time but we got the majority of scenes we wanted, we also didn't follow all the different shots that we had to do in the exact order either but they where quite close.

Shot list :
Shot 1:Starts with looking at the casual teenager from a jib shot of wide distances  from the characters back
Shot 2:Snapping from the previous shot to the last shot too the next one where a different character will be waiting in a elevator and will use a tilt shot to show the menacing look of the person
Shot 3:Snapping from the person in the elevator too the boy with the causal clothing and showing him drinking the drink witch is being advertised that will be filmed at a mid shot.
Shot 4:Going into a close up shot as soon as the drink is open so as soon as the drink is close will go to a steady close up.
Shot 5:using a pan shot too show that the mysterious man has seen the casual boy when the boy sees the mysterious man begins to run back through the door he entered through.
Shot 6:Using normal jib shot at a fast speed focusing on the feet and legs of the predator and prey.
Shot 7:The prey just gets away and is a mid shot behind the prey
Shot 8 : Close up of the product with studio lighting all around it and edited text stating what the product is.

These are pictures of the places we used minus one which was on the stairs.

This was some of the planing for the advert (in case i didn't post it on another post)
It shows some of the ideas we started with and then shows some of the story board for the advert we decided on.
